Anderson East is playing a gig in town tonight.  He’s been here most of the week, having already played Waterfront Wednesday, a free once-monthly concert series during the summer months, and being the “artist in residence” at our local NPR station this afternoon.  If you’re not familiar with him, he’s a terrific young artist from Alabama.  In an interview I heard, he said that he was a huge Wilson Pickett fan growing up, and you can certainly hear that influence in his music.  This reminded me that Wilson Pickett is buried here, in Louisville.  He was actually born in Prattville, AL and died in Virginia.  But his mom was buried here so this is where he’s buried as well.  So in honor of tonight’s show by Anderson, and his love of and the influence by Wilson Pickett, here are a couple to get the evening started.  And, I’ll throw another in by one of our more well-known local artists, Tim Kreckel, that is about Wilson Pickett.

“It’s Only You” by Anderson East

“Wilson Pickett” by The Tim Kreckel Orchestra

“Satisfy Me” by Anderson East

“Mustang Sally” by Wilson Pickett
