Thanks, y’all

I just wanted to take a second and pass along a little gratitude.  I made a post a few weeks ago about one of my boys, A Little Help, being diagnosed with Working Memory Disorder.  I hadn’t heard of this before and humbly asked for your help.

If you read the post and check out the “comment” section and you’ll see 82 messages.  Of course, a lot of those are my comments back to you guys.  But if only half of the 82 messages are from you guys, that’s still a hell of a lot of time, effort, concern, and support from y’all.  And I can’t begin to thank you all enough.

Y’all have given me advice and education.  You’ve helped calm my nerves and prompt me into action.  Since that post, I’ve read bunches of articles based on your suggestions.  I’ve discussed what I’ve learned with my wife and his teachers.  We’ve started doing some home activities designed to increase his ability to retain info and understand how to study more effectively.  And we’ve had him assessed by Learning Rx and are awaiting initial results.  From there, we plan to compare their findings with those of the school testing.  If we get the same results, we’re set to have him seen at Learning Rx once weekly for roughly six months.  They use the principles of neuroplasticity to re-train the brain. To move new skills to a subconscious level to achieve lasting results.  We use neuroplasticity techniques in both physical and cognitive re-training in stroke and TBI patients, so I’ve seen it work.

Things are moving along, we’ve gotten an education, great advice, and have a gameplan in place.  Much of our confidence, and relative peace of mind that we can manage and improve this situation, comes from your advice and words of support.  So, from the bottom of my heart, I say, Thank You!  I hope to be able to pay it forward for one, or some, of you guys when needed.

I wasn’t so sure about this WP thing when I started.  Now, after the kindness displayed to me and my family, I’m very glad I stayed, and you’ve reaffirmed my decision to be here.  Again, I thank you all.
