Love your mother

The events of yesterday, with the loss of yet another icon, someone we saw as larger than life, is a stark reminder of our own mortality.  That we merely rent this space for a short time.  Even though we are mourning the loss of an influential life, and one that may have inspired or provided a voice to our emotions, it’s worth noting that today is also a day to celebrate life.  To increase our awareness and advocate for care of this outpost that has provided us with the gift of flora and fauna, laughter and love, beauty and awe.  Today is Earth Day.

So as we mourn the loss of those we admire and love and cherish, let’s not forget to protect this place we call home.  Though none of us make it out of this journey alive, it is certainly good stewardship and, I believe, our responsibility, to insure that future generations have a healthy and thriving environment to call home.  A place to provide love, beauty, sustenance, and life.  I don’t know about you, but I wish for a planet that provides my boys, and their kids, and their kids, and so on, the precious gift of life.

We only have one earth.  Please try to take care of it.
