Thank you!

I’m humbled, again, to be nominated by one of my peers here in WP land.  This one is a new one to me, but I like the name: The Black Cat Blue Sea Award:

This one comes from a relatively new acquaintance of mine, Not The Average Mama.  I’ve just recently been introduced to her site, but it’s an extremely interesting read.  She is a step-mom, and converses and collaborates with the mom of her step-kids.  I’m not a step-parent, but I was a step-child.  Let me tell ya’, the way they are going about co-parenting, and as friends, it appears, is far better than the experience I had.  It’s fantastic to follow.  You should probably go check her site out, don’t ya think?

So, as with all of these, there are some rules and whatnot, and here they are:

I appreciate that this one uses the word “can” in its procedures.  As per usual, I nominate all of you guys.  If you want to take part, please feel free.  Here are her questions:

Who was the first blog/blogger you heard of/read and did they inspire you to start?

Well, the first blogger I came across here on WP was Emmagc75.  I wasn’t even on WP at the time, but had been contemplating doing some sort of electronic journaling.  A blog wasn’t really even on my radar.  Did a Google search about narcissism, and parents in particular, and I found one of her posts.  I read it, and it spoke to me.  I wanted to make a comment, but couldn’t because I wasn’t a WP follower or user.  So, the two met: I was looking for an outlet, and I figured I needed to be a WP user to make a comment, and bam!  I’m sonofabeach96.  To make short answer long, Em was the first blogger I read or heard of and, yes, in many ways, she did inspire me to begin.

Do you see blogging as a future career or just a side hobby?

I honestly have zero clue as to how someone does make it a career.  Can I make money from rambling on about nonsense that likely makes zero impact outside of my bubble?  I don’t see how.  Anyway, I have a career.  One that I’ve been involved in for nearly 20 years now.  This is simply a hobby, a diversion, and a journal of sorts.  Along the way, it actually became fun.

What is your all-time favorite album and why?  How does it make you feel to listen to it?

Oh man.  This may be the toughest question I’ve ever been asked.  How do I choose a favorite album?!?  I say it’s impossible and I don’t know where I’d stop the options.  I’d pick one, say “yep, that’s it”, then a couple seconds later say, “Wait!  I forgot about (fill in the blank)!  That’s my favorite!”.  If you could play that scene on a loop, that’d be my decision process.

Now, for the sake of the sanctity of the question, and because its polite to answer a question from someone, my “If I were trapped on a deserted island with just one album, forever…” answer would have to be Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO):

In my opinion, and take that for what it’s worth, they are the greatest rock band of all-time.  I truly do love all kinds of music, and my taste and collection are vast and varied, but by God, if I could only listen to one thing ever again?  It’d be Zeppelin IV.

There ya’ have it.  I’d like to thank Not Your Average Mama again, for the nomination.  I really appreciate it.  And, as always, if ya’ wanna play along, consider yourself nominated!  🙂

My songs of the day are:

  1. While I sometimes think it would be cool if someone paid me for my endless pictures, rambles, and avoidances, that would take all the fun out of it! Congratulations – you are definitely deserving 🙂

  5. I would love to get paid to write…if that meant I could write more often and do the other gig less. Right now I like money. 🙂 And food and shoes.

  6. Yep. Led Zeppelin IV is my desert island record, too. Dune is my book and Van Gogh’s “the night sky” is my painting. All set for a shipwreck I guess!

  7. Congratulations! I might do this post soon! I love love love “Stairway to Heaven.” I think the successful bloggers sell a lot of ads. I’m not quite sure. I wish I could blog as a career!
