It’s that time again, for another round of Share Your World from Cee’s Photography.

You know the drill: 3 random questions, one question that either completes a sentence, makes a list, or chooses either/or.  And, as usual the final question asks what you’re grateful for from last week, and what you’re looking forward to from the coming week.

Here’s Cee’s questions for this week:

When do you feel most connected to others?

This is kind of a tough one, as there are numerous ways I feel connected to others.  When I tuck my boys in at night and we talk a bit, we hug, and we say, “I love you”, to each other.

When I have a heart to heart with a friend.  When my wife and I lock eyes across a crowded room, and give each other that little grin.

When I find some common ground with a new acquaintance, or even one of you here on WP.  There’s more than one way home, as the saying goes, and that’s certainly true of connecting with another.

What daily habit would you like to introduce to your life?

Well, now that warmer weather is upon us, my goal would be to be on the water daily.

That’s ambitious, with work, a spouse, and three kids, but several days a week is doable, and I plan to make it happen.

What mini-little-adventure would you like to have in the coming week?

It’s funny that Cee asked this one, as we were thinking about taking the boys to Mammoth Cave National Park this weekend.

It’s less than hour away, and we’ve been many times, but it’s still a favorite of ours.  If you’ve never been, it’s quite unique, and I highly recommend it if ever in this neck of the woods.

List at least some of the things or events that changed your life: It could be as simple as a book or meeting a certain person.

Oh man!  There’s not enough room here to discuss all of those moments, but I’ll pick a few that are pivotal:

  1. My parents divorcing when I was 7 changed my entire world.
  2. Going to my first concert, at around 8-9 years old, setting me on a love affair with music that continues to this day.
  3. Meeting four amazing people when I went to college.  One is gone now, but the other three are life-long friends.
  4. Meeting the woman, quite by chance, that would become my life partner, my love, my world.
  5. Having children.  The greatest gift possible, but life altering to the Nth degree

Bonus question:

What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Considering that today is Primaries day here, and the fact that I participated in this process this morning, I’ll go with the fact that I’m grateful to live in a free and democratic society.

I bitch and moan about politics, government, and our often-inept leaders, sure.  However, I voted this morning, and I did so without the threat of persecution or violence or repercussion.  I did so without interference from any entity or agenda.  Many places in the world, this is not the case.

As for what I’m looking forward to in the week coming up, a date night Friday with my baby, for dinner and The Jayhawks.

Then, on Saturday, the aforementioned visit to Mammoth Cave.

There you have it, and, as usual, thanks to Cee for another round of interesting and thought provoking questions.

My songs of the day are:

“Numb” by O.J.R.

“More Than One Way Home” by Keb’ Mo’

“We Do I Do” by Harry Connick, Jr.

“The Comin’ ‘Round Is Goin’ Through” by Bonnie Raitt

“Lack of Water” by The Why Store

“Quiet Corners and Empty Spaces” by The Jayhawks

  2. I love this little window into your world so much! Now I see why I like you, besides our mutual affinity for water, and music. Your wife is beautiful, and your boys look like a handful, as they should be! I am glad you are man enough to speak your love, that will impact the boys greatly as they mature into thoughtful men, such as yourself. 🙂

  8. With more than 340 miles of mapped passageways, Mammoth Cave is the longest cave system in the world. Some explorers believe that much of the cave has yet to be discovered.
