This week’s edition of The One Word Photo Challenge from Jennifer Nichole Wells is for the word:

CAGE

Here’s my take on it:

One of the latest under the house visitors, caged:

Cage match anyone?:

Fairly big enclosure, but a cage nonetheless:

“Is this a funhouse or a cage?”, he’s thinking about now:

  3. I went and bought a cage to see if I could catch the latest armadillo that has been destroying the yard. Just when you think they’re gone, another one comes along thinking our yard is the neighborhood buffet.

  4. I’ve been out sick for a few days but love your “collection” of critters. Is the first one a Gopher? Growing up, we had many squirrel/bats come down our chimney. One of my favorite memories is when a Squirrel attached itself to my Mama’s pajamas just after her birthday dinner! I was terrified, so I threw her a broom like it was a life raft. The Griswolds had nothing on us!

    • Hahaha! That’s funny! We’ve had bats, Chimney Sweeps, snakes, and a raccoon I the house over the years. The damn raccoon was in our duct work and we had to set the trap in our bedroom! No squirrels though. Yes, well, it’s a groundhog, which is the same as a gopher I think. He was not happy…AT ALL! 😃

      • I grew up in “Rattlesnake” country, and my cousin was “life-flighted” three times because of bites. Luckily, I’ve never come across one! Knock on wood. 🐍

      • We only have 3 poisonous snakes here, but rattlers are one. The only kind I’ve ever seen around the farm are copperheads though. One of the neighbors told me about a rattler nest he came across once, but I’ve never encountered one. The ones we get most are rat snakes and cow snakes. Not poisonous, but don’t like em. Good mice control though. 😃

      • When I was a kid, my Pappaw used to tell me that if I came across a Copperhead, I should just step on its head because it would “come clean off”. To this day I don’t know if he was kidding or not. 😅 He did have a wicked sense of humor!

      • When I see one, I go the other direction! I’m not gonna put my foot anywhere near its head! 😃

      • I’m pretty sure he never used his foot either, but he did make pretty good use of his garden hoe! Seriously.

      • I don’t kill any if I can help it. They’re terrific mouse control. But a poisonous one is toast if I get near it. 😃
