Share Your World-2016 Week 21

It’s that time again, for my way-behind-ass to get it in gear and take part in the Share Your World prompt from Cee’s Photography.  I think by now, most of y’all know the drill and the format, and if not, you can find them at Cee’s via the link above.  Even if you do know the drill, you should go check her out anyway!

Let’s get on with it, shall we?  Here are Cee’s questions this week:

What is your favorite go to beverage?  Water, coffee, tea, coke, soda (non-alcoholic)

Of the five drinks listed in this question, I’d have to pick the nectar of the gods, almighty coffee!  My favorite is Chicory, which I became familiar with and fell in love with during my time in New Orleans.  A hot cup of that with a side of a few beignets?  That’s a little slice of heaven right there, y’all!

That said, I am Southern, so my love of sweet tea is ingrained on my DNA.  I don’t drink many sodas, and we never really keep them at home, and I should probably drink more water, but sweet tea is so dang good!

Can you change a car tire?

Absolutely!  Mine, my wife’s, strangers I’ve come across on the road, my lawnmower, a tractor.  If it has a tire, that doesn’t weigh a thousand pounds, I can and likely have changed it at one time or another.  My wife knows how as well, but what kind of husband would I be if I let her?  She rings, I’m there.

Are you a listener or talker?

Well, that all depends.  I’m a good listener, and always willing to allow people to vent, or bitch, or just let it out.  I’m not very judge mental, if at all, and most who know are aware of that.  That tends to give people license to open up to me, and I welcome that.  I’m not a talker by nature, and that works well with the dynamic of my relationship with my wife, as she is most certainly a talker.  To ANYBODY!  If you’re ever stuck in the checkout line at the grocery with her, you’re likely to get our life’s stories…whether you want it or not.

Now, there are times that I am talkative.  Around my friends, my wife, when I can get a word in edgewise, and when I’ve been drinking…or stuff.  I’ll talk the paint off a wall when I get a happy buzz going, so be aware:  if you ever see me out on the town or at a party, don’t be surprised if I turn into my wife…with slightly bloodshot eyes or a bit of a slur.  I am not, however, the “I love you, man” guy, so you’d be spared that.

Would you rather have no internet or no cell phone?

Oh, this is easy: no cell phone!  I love my internet access.  For millions of reasons.  My phone?  I use it for texting and taking pics.  Period!  I despise talking on the phone, so not having it wouldn’t bother me in the least.  Not having my iPad?  OMG!  My palms are sweating just typing that!

Bonus Question:

What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

From the last week, I’m grateful that the school year came to a close, grades were good, and awards were acquired.  I’m very proud of my boys (no shit, huh?), and I was very proud of their year and my twins “graduated” from 5th grade with some academic and extracurricular honors.  I cried during the slide show at the graduation ceremony, by the way.  But when I saw pics of them from kindergarten and such, I was a bit overcome.  I now no longer have any elementary kids.  All 3 will be middle schoolers next year, with my oldest to high school the following year.

As for what I’m looking forward to in the coming week?  Well, I know this week is coming to a close, and I’m late getting to this, but what I’ve been looking forward to actually starts today.  As soon as I’m done at work, I’m out!  Boys trip (big boys, not my boys) begins, with a drive to the Chattanooga area to hit the Ocoee For two full days of camping at Thunder Rock, whitewatering The Upper (home of the 1996 Olympic course) and Middle runs, and…other big boy fun.

Can’t wait, and we haven’t done the Ocoee in a few years.  Checked the TVA’s water release schedules yesterday, and we appear to be in for a fantastic ride, with release scheduled for 8 hours a day for the entirety of the weekend.

Strap on the helmets and refresh that Eskimo roll technique.  Probably gonna need both!  Woot!!!

There ya’ have it.  Thanks again, Cee!  Great questions this week.  And, as always, thanks for hosting.  If you haven’t stopped by for a visit, I recommend you do so.

My songs of the day are:

“Phone In The Pool” by Ben Folds

“Crazy Baby” by Joan Osborne

“Big Wave” by Donovan Frankenreiter

“Hold On” by Tom Waits

“Riptide” by Vance Joy

“Cold, Cold, Cold” by Cage The Elephant

“28 Butts” by Little Jackie

“Down In The Flood” by Derek Trucks Band

  1. I’ve never tried chickory all by itself, only in combo with coffee. So what’s Mrs beach doing all weekend? 😃 Be safe and watch out for Fictional K – he’s in Chatt this weekend too! 😱

    • She’s got the boys all weekend, so I’m guessing she’ll be pulling her hair out! He’s there too, huh? Hope I don’t end up in a shallow grave then. I’ll be sure to avoid any truck stops or rest areas within 100 miles of Chattanooga. 😃

  2. Wow… we are the same on most of this… Coffee — although I do drink lots of water, coffee is what I love. When my daughter draws a picture of me, I am always holding a cup of coffee… or she just draws the coffee! Ha!. Your listener/talker answer is pretty much exactly as I would have answered. And the internet/hating the phone thing. Damn — I can’t even order a pizza! I have to get John to do it (which is never a problem since pizza is his favorite food on earth). I hate and almost fear the phone that much. (But I would not get off of it when I was a teenager…)

Oh, and I know how to change a tire… but I’ve never actually done it by myself… and I don’t want to! 🙂

Sorry, I am very wordy today!
