Good While It Lasted

Well, that was quick.  It was most certainly a welcome respite, and I’m thankful for the break, and the time with my friends is always a blessing.  But dang, it goes by fast.

We don’t all live close to one another anymore.  Jobs, wanderlust, and, sometimes, girls have us separated by distance.  But, that all goes away when we’re together, even for just a short time.  The stories, the laughs, the good times flow like the river we ran….and seem to pass as rapidly as this water rages through this gorge.

Just as this ancient river carved and molded this landscape, these three dudes have helped carve and mold the person, the man, that I am today.

I wish we all lived closer together these days.  But life is meandering and takes twists and turns.

The current is sometimes swift and the going gets rough at times.

These friendships are a constant though.  No amount of carving and cutting can or will ever alter that landscape.

I’d also like to say Happy Memorial Day and say “Thank You” to all our service men and women, those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who are currently making a daily sacrifice.  Without you, our way of life and the freedoms to pursue it would not be possible.  Thank you for your service.

  1. I think it’s great that you’ve maintained your friendships over time and distance. My sister had a group of friends (her and 4 guys…) in high school… they were so close… they’re still great friends today. A couple of them moved to the UK… one in Miami… one in Oregon, I think… and she lives in NYC. I always wished I had lasting friendships like that. I’ve had some wonderful friends in my life, but not like that. I am barely in touch with friends from my last job… forget high school or college friends!

Anyway… looks like lots of fun! Glad you enjoyed yourself! It definitely goes by too fast…
