Saw this post yesterday,  Playlist Party from my bud Stephellaneous.  It’s an interesting twist on the usual “meet and greet”, where you leave a link to one of your, or someone else’s, post.  Sorta like speed dating for bloggers.   Not dating, but….anyway, you get the drift.  You are introduced to dozens of, or more, other sites in a short period of time.  I can’t possibly check most of them out, and thus, I usually don’t take part.  Although, there have been instances when I’ve loved something I read on another site, and I’ll leave a greeting and a link to those sites in a meet and greet post.

Anyway, though I usually don’t partake, I found the Playlist Party post to be an interesting take on the topic.  So here I am.  As with most of these blogging prompts and/or challenges, there are a few rules and regulations.  Nothing too major though, so check ’em out:

An Adventurous Musical Meet & Greet

It’s been ages since we’ve done a Meet & Greet, so let’s do it! You know I like to mix music into them, so if you want to participate on that front as well it would be superduper! I’m thinking the theme for this Playlist Party slash Meet & Greet should be Adventure – Moving On – Starting Over. I need a playlist for songs like that – any genre is welcome. Even if it’s country, I’ll try not to cringe and call you names. Any genre, any time/decade. I’ll start us off in a minute.

But first, the Meet & Greet! Let’s see. These things usually need “Rules,” but I don’t like Rules. So let’s call them Meet & Greet Ideas:

Give us a link to your about or a favorite post of yours or both – and tell us a little about you if you’d like!
Give us a link to a blog you’re crazy about, or a post that touched you in some way, written by someone else – let’s spread the love!
Share a song about adventure or starting over. (If you don’t have a song idea, you’re still part of this Meet & Greet!)
Reblog or link to this post – let’s see how many new people we can meet y’all!

Alrighty then, I’ll play along.

As for a favorite post of mine, someone else’s, or both, I can’t possibly come up with a favorite post by someone else.  I’ve been doing this for nearly a year now, and couldn’t even venture a guess at all the others’ posts that have moved me, humored me, or had me nearly pissing myself.  Those that I look forward to seeing new posts from, those that I’ll never forget, and may even quote from time to time.  So, that said, and in keeping with the spirit of this prompt, and because I’d never dare piss off our rad and righteous hostess by ignoring the house rules of Stephellandia, I’ll leave a link to one of my current faves, and it has a music slant to it too, so it’ll fit right in here:

If you aren’t familiar with this site, I recommend checking her out.  Terrific writer, awesome taste in music, and she’s from Asheville, which is fantastic, soooo…..

And, again, I don’t usually promote my own site a great deal either.  But, in keeping with the house rules in effect, here’s one of mine, from several months ago actually, with a music nod as well:

Now, for my playlist that fits the topic of:

I’ll pick 8 songs for this, as that has become my daily M.O., primarily because it’s roughly 8-10 songs worth that get me from home to work in the mornings, depending on length and number of times I may repeat a particular song.  So, in addition to complying with house rules, and not repeating her choices, 3 of which would’ve been on my list, these will be my songs of the day too:

“Already Gone” by The Eagles

“Home” by Marc Broussard

“Ramblin’ Man” by The Allman Brothers

“Don’t Wanna Fight” by Alabama Shakes

“Gringo Honeymoon” by Robert Earl Keen

“Devil’s Whisper” by Roary

“I Hear You Knocking” by Dave Edmunds

“Westward Bound” by Ha Ha Tonka

  1. Haha! You rock! And I love the “Howdy” image – my mamaw totally would have approved. She’d have laughed and snorted and said it’s so bad.

Great songs, buddy buddy! Thank you for playing along…those things usually annoy me, too. But when I mix music into it, it USUALLY gets people going and meeting each other.

I’m totally adding those songs to my playlist. I had Ramblin’ Man on there, but I didn’t have the rest. Sweet!

  2. Wow – this is too kind of you to link to me over here – thank-You!! I’m very glad to have you as a friend. Can you believe we met over on Rob’s blog? Well, yes…I actually can. I’m so thrilled you enjoy my work, you are one of those special individuals who inspires me to keep going with this. I’ve got my board of ‘wow’s to prove it!!

Also, yes, we do share both our love of music, and photography! If I had a kayak I’d be right there on the water too. I’m off to listen to Gringo Honeymoon now, I’ve never heard it.

Thank-you again. HUGE smiles, and many hugs from Asheville. 🙂
