Time again to Share Your World, brought to you by Cee’s Photography.

Here are Cee’s questions for the week:

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

This is an easy one: being married to this wonderful woman:

And, being dad to these awesome boys:

If you could take a photograph, paint a picture or write a story of any place in the world, what and where would it be?

Man, that’s a tough one.  We’ve been to many fantastic places together, as a family, and in my days prior to being married.  There are still, however, many places I have as bucket-list items: paddling the Inside Passage, diving The Great Barrier Reef, observing the Northern Lights, and trekking the Great Wall, Nepal, and to Machu Pichu.

But, after meeting my mother-in-law, who turned out be one of my kindred spirits, we talked a lot about her trips to Africa, specifically Kenya, in great detail.  She had gone several times on mission trips and fell in love with the people and the culture.  So much so that she went back several more times of her own volition, as she had made numerous friends.  She raved about being on safari and the magnificence of the scenery, sunrises and sunsets, and the wildlife, of course.  Her photos made me long to visit myself.  So, I suppose that’d be my answer: Going on safari and coming back with an album full of photos of the people, nature, and wildlife.

Should children be seen and not heard?

Of course not!  One can learn a lot from children, if we can ease up on the notion of authority over them.  Now, good behavior is imperative in certain situations, of course, and we instill in and insist from them good manners, being polite, and generally acting like little humans instead of banshees when in public or at non-kid-specific events.  But my boys’ opinions and questions and viewpoints are valuable to me.  Yes, I’m dad and as such, there are rules and a level of respect is mandatory.  But I respect them as people and I’m interested in what they have to say.

List at least five of your favorite first names.

Interesting question.  I like my boys’ names, of course, or I wouldn’t have been on board when picking them: Jack, Luke, and Mason.  I love my wife’s name: Jeannine.  And we had two girls names picked out when we found out we were having twins, but before we knew they were boys: Olivia and Miller.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Well, from the past week, I’m most grateful that my in-laws, their home, and the town of Apalachicola were spared much of the impact of Hurricane Hermine.

Not everyone in its path was, as considerable damage was caused from coastal storm surge and ensuing flooding, and, sadly, 2 people have died.

In another dose of gratefulness, my beloved Ocracoke was spared significant damage too, with ferry services resuming and visitor mandatory evacuations lifted as of today.

There was some concern over beach erosion and ocean washover in the upper Outer Banks, with some already reported near Hatteras as of yesterday, but the OBX appears to be generally OK.

As for what I’m looking forward to in the coming week, there really isn’t anything significant on the calendar.  So, I’ll say just to have a week of minimal drama, smooth sailing, and continued really, really great weather.  It’s been absolutely perfect here in Kentucky for the past week with low humidity, sunny warm days, and cool Fall-like evenings.

My songs of the day are:

“All I Ever Wonder” by St. Paul & The Broken Bones

“Sugar Buzz” by k.d. Lang

“Let Love Rule” by Lenny Kravitz

“Begin Here” by Damien Jurado

“Listen To The Dark Side” by Charlie Mars

“Best Days On Earth” by Trashcan Sinatra’s

“I’m Still Here” by Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings

“Make A Change” by Durand Jones & The Indications
