Time for this week’s Share Your World from Cee’s Photography.

Here are Cee’s questions for this edition:

What is your favorite smell? What memory does it remind you of?

For me, music is the strongest reminder of past moments, good and bad.  However, smells are a close second.  There was a certain perfume my grandma used to wear, the way my other grandma’s house smelled (in a good way), cookies baking, puppies, bacon cooking, coffee brewing, fresh cut grass, sheets dried on the line, the saltiness of the ocean, wood burning.

I could go on and on, but for me, my favorite smell is, and likely always will be, the way my kids smelled as infants.

Of course, they’d get stinky at times, but in general, they smelled fresh and clean and perfect.  It’s hard to describe, and I suppose it’s an innate thing, but it’s as powerful as any memory-inducing smell I’ve encountered.  When I hold a baby now, I sniff their cheeks or the crown of their head, and I’m immediately taken back to having a baby…or two, in the house.  It’s uncanny.

What type of pet do you have or want to have?

We have a dog and three cats as pets, plus several head of cattle

and a trio of donkeys.

Our dog is one we adopted 2 years ago, about a month after our previous dog  had passed.

Coco is a mixed bag of who knows what, but we think predominantly beagle.  She’s originally from New Orleans but was among the 100 or so animals brought to our city following Katrina.  She had been with another family until we got her in 2014.  Oddly enough, we had lost a dog just before Katrina and had adopted our own Katrina dog, Bayou, from the same group of 100 dogs, in 2006.

She lived with us until 2013.

The cats are a 20-something year old black long-hair we inherited after my MIL passed, a white with gray tips, and an orange tabby that is the queen!

Are you usually late, early, or right on time?

Well, I have 3 boys, 14 and 11(x2), so when it’s time for all of us to be somewhere, we are usually screaming into the site on two wheels and barely making it on time, or we’re late.

It drives me nuts, as I was, and still am when it’s just me, a mostly punctual person.  But, even before having kids, I had 8 years of acceptance based on my wife’s propensity to have little, if any, sense of time.  So, nowadays, when we are running behind, as usual, I give a little sigh, and just roll with it.

For recharging, would you rather meditate, swim, walk, listen to music, write, read, yoga, qigong other?

Water is my go-to.  Be it swimming in, fishing at, kayaking on, being next to, boating on, or diving under, water is paramount to nourishing my soul.  Music and/or simply being alone, preferably in nature, are equally adept at centering me.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

From this past week, I’m grateful for being 99% done with shopping…and I’m super grateful for on-line shopping!  Pick, click, done?  Perfect!

In the coming week, I’m looking forward to Christamas weekend, and all that it entails.  By then, I’ll be glad to put a bow on it, until next year.

My songs of the day are:

“Cool Water” by The Talking Heads

“Late” by Ben Folds

“Down To The Waterline” by Dire Straits

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana

“Pet Sematary” by The Ramones

“Too Late For Goodbyes” by Julian Lennon

“Rising Water” by James Vincent McMorrow

“Late For The Sky” by Jackson Browne
