Another Bucket of Thanks!

I don’t do the award thing anymore, generally speaking.   I sorta declared my site “award-free” many months ago.  I always thought they were a way of promoting newer sites and introducing greenies to other peers.

Well, I’m not really new anymore.  I’m in my second year and have made like 700 posts.  I’m quite surprised I’m not wearing out my welcome and boring away visitors, but, here I am still.  My point being, I don’t really care to be promoted and I’m not concerned with how many followers or likes I get.  I’m still not totally comfortable with the size this little distraction has become anyway.

Now, like I said, I don’t really do awards anymore…but I will if I enjoy the line of questioning.  That’s why I will always participate in Vinnie’s questionnaires and polls, and even awards.  His questions are always interesting and thought provoking.  If you aren’t familiar with his site, I recommend checking it out.  You won’t regret it!

So, I’ll say, “Thanks, Vin!”, for the shoutout, the nomination for:

and then attempt to answer Vin’s questions.  Here we go:

How often would you say you spend on your blog?

I’m not really sure, but I’m typically on it daily.  We are very busy with work and kids and farm, so it’s usually in spurts throughout the day, and a bit in the evenings.  I certainly enjoy being on my site and conversing with my regulars, but I try to balance the virtual world with my real-world responsibilities.

What has blogging taught you?

That there are plenty of great people out there, all over the world, who, in these overwhelmingly trying times socially and politically, give me hope that all isn’t lost.  I’m generally an upbeat and positive dude, but it’s hard not to be a complete cynic…about everything these days.  Y’all keep me in good spirits.

Amy Adams or Natalie Portman?

Easy: Amy Adams!

Natalie Portman is fantastic too, but there’s just something about Amy Adams that works for me.

Walks along the beach or romantic meal inside?

Oh, the beach!  I’m game for ANYTHING if there’s a beach involved.

Also, I tend to be a simpleton when it comes to food.  I’m not unadventurous, mind you, when it comes to food, but I don’t need to be in order to be content.  The beach?  I NEED that to be content.

Have you ever written in the nude?

Well, I’m not opposed to, or shy about, being nude, so I’d imagine that I have. I’ll spare y’all any photographic evidence of such activities, though.

What film had the biggest emotional impact on you?

This is a tough question.  There are plenty to choose from.  I think The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and maybe even Forest Gump come to mind initially.

What is your fondest memory from childhood?

My grandparents.  They were the one stabilizing force in my life as a child.  I never really had a “home” to call my own growing up, except for them.

And traveling.  My parents weren’t perfect, by any means, but they did introduce me to music, open-mindedness, and photography.  And they traveled with me, frequently. The travel bug and wanderlust had been ingrained in me from an early age, and hasn’t changed as I’ve aged.  I’ve done the same with my own kids.

Is there any scene you would love to recreate from a movie?

The scene on the “L” from Risky Business.

I just about had my wife (girlfriend at the time) amenable to the idea years ago, during a trip out to Midway airport for a late-night flight.  She chickened out on me though.  She’s adventurous with me, and we’ve consummated in some….odd places.  But that was too public for her on that particular night.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

In 5 years, I’ll be 52.  I don’t see us living anywhere different or in a different career or making any drastic changes to the life we’ve created, but I sure hope to be really, really close to retiring!!!

What film have you been meaning to watch for a long time, but just haven’t got the chance to?

I should probably be embarrassed to say this, but I’ve never seen Casablanca.

Not sure why, but I think it’s one I really need to make point of watching.

And in the style of Stuff and That, do you think I have a nice bum?

Well, Vin, I love ya’, bud.  However, yours is not really my type.  No offense intended, but I don’t really pay attention to other dudes’ backsides, so I don’t really have an applicable sample size to reference.  This question would be better served to some others whom follow you.  That said, I can’t say I mind the female buns you choose to highlight periodically, so, by all means, keep on keepin’ on with those posts.

There ya’ have it.  Fun, as usual, Vin.  I’m not gonna nominate anybody specific, as has been my long-standing policy on these.  So, if any of y’all fine peeps want to take part, please feel free to do so.  Just give Vinnie the shoutout, and please go check him out if you aren’t already in the know.  You’ll be following him in short order.
