Time for this week’s Share Your World from Cee’s Photography.

Here are Cee’s questions for this week:

Wanting something to quench your thirst, what would you drink?

That all depends.  On a hot summer day, after mowing, an ice cold beer…or a few, does the trick.

Ice water is effective, of course.  And I love sweet tea.  Any of those three are my go-to’s. I gave up soft drinks a bit ago, and I don’t really miss them, surprisingly.  But a Coke over crushed ice, or an Ale-8,

or a Cheerwine,

or a root beer are all tasty.  Come to think of it, I do kinda miss pop.  Oh well, one every now and then won’t hurt, right?

Complete this sentence: Never In My Life Have I….

…disliked a President as much as I do our current POTUS.

If you could be given any gift what would it be?

There’s not much I need, really.  Though a house on Ocracoke,

, and the freedom to go whenever we wanted, wouldn’t suck.

But, since we’re wishing on a star here, I’ll say I’d wish for good health for my family and friends, for a long, long time.

I’d wish for world peace and a giant dose of rational thought, with some actual compassion mixed in, from our leaders, but that’s evidently not possible, no matter how much it’s wished for.

What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep, toss and turn, or get up and try to do something productive?

I often have trouble sleeping.  My mind just won’t turn off some days.  In situations like my current one, with my wife out of town for a while, those sleepless nights only get worse.  It just doesn’t feel right without her next to me.

I don’t really have a good solution.  I just try to relax, let my mind go blank (yeah, right!), close my eyes, and drift off.  If that doesn’t work, a shot of Woodford generally does the trick.

Or, in dire circumstances, a shot of NyQuil will help.  I hate taking any kind of meds though, even just a couple of Advil, so that’s a last resort kinda thing.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

From last week, I’m grateful that my wife made it safely to Tallahassee for her step-mom’s surgery, and that the surgery itself was successful.

In the coming week, I’m hopeful that my wife returns home and that her step-mom’s recovery goes smoothly, which has been complicated by a reaction to the anesthesia.  They won’t release her to return to Apalach until she’s been a-fib free for 24 hours, and that hasn’t happened yet.

My wife is exhausted, she did a stint at the hospital from 11:00pm to this morning around 8:00am, and is growing weary of hospital chairs, hotel beds, and not being here with us.  But, with aging parents, this comes with the territory, I suppose.

My songs of the day are:

“I Guess I Should Go To Sleep” by Jack White

“Beer Run” by Tod Snider

“The National Health” by Maximo Park

“Pop Song ’89” by R.E.M.

“Behind The Wall of Sleep” by The Smithereens

“Beerbottle” by Stereophonics

“Pop Singer” by John Mellencamp

“Sleep” by My Chemical Romance
