Time for this week’s Share Your World from Cee’s Photography.

Here are Cee’s questions for the week:

How many languages do you you speak?

Well, primarily, one.  English.

I did take 4 years of French in high school, and then 2 years worth in college, as a 1st and 2nd semester freshman.  That means the last time I really used it was in the Fall of ’86-Spring of ’87.  I was, at one time, reasonably fluent….in a student kinda way.  The one time I had been in France, most people arched an eyebrow in irritation and were likely thinking to themselves, “Pfft.  Stupid American!”, whenever I tried to converse in French.

So, I suppose my answer is, one.

What are you reading, watching, listening to, eating?

Reading: I just started An Hour Before Daylight by Jimmy Carter.  It’s not a recent book, but one I’ve wanted to read for a while.

Watching: nothing in particular.

Listening to: a lot!  Sean Rowe, Low Cut Connie, Maximo Park, Portugal The Man, North Mississippi All-Stars, Afghan Wigs, Filthy Friends, The Kills, Hooray For The Riff Raff, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Dawes, Willie Nelson, Matthew Logan Vasquez, Taj Mo’ (Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’).  That’s the new stuff at least.  I’ll spare you the list of the others.

Eating: nothing really outta the ordinary lately.

What was the last photo you took with your phone?

What is your favorite time of day?

Well, that depends on what season it is.

In Winter, it’s mornings, at sunrise.    It’s usually colder than a well diggers ass, but the sky is often afire in oranges and reds.

In Spring, it’s every minute of daylight.  Spring in my neck of the woods is ideal.  Cool nights and mornings, warm days with no humidity, bright blue skies with puffy white clouds, beautiful  evenings.  Everything’s green, and fresh, and flowery, and it is great to have a sit around the firepit at dusk with a drink or two after having freshly mown the yard.  Everything looks perfect in the scene and light.

In Summer, it’s dusk/early evening.  The temps cool a bit, the lighting is perfect, and…you know, sunsets!

In Fall, it’s night.  The nippiness is back in the air, the smell of a fireplace ablaze, skies are crisply clear, and it’s perfect for a bonfire or field party.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

From last week, I was grateful to watch our twins perform at an instrumental band competition, and their class earned first place trophy for their grade level.

In the coming week, I’m looking forward to my oldests’ speech at his middle school graduation.  I’m definitely more nervous about it than him.  He doesn’t seem fazed at all.  I hope it’s a hit.

My songs of the day are:

“Waterloo Sunset” by The Kinks

“Uncle John’s Band” by The Grateful Dead

“Singing To Strangers” by The Wood Brothers

“Recon Beach” by Hooray For The Riff Raff

“Burning Bright (Field On Fire)” by Nine Inch Nails

“Silver Springs” by Fleetwood Mac

“Band On The Run” by Paul McCartney & Wings

“Pleasure” by Feist

  6. Ah, the French must have softened since you’ve been there! They seemed surprised and pleased when I used my rudimentary French to speak to them! congratulations to the twins, that’s really awesome! Your photos are stunning, as always!

  7. These are great photos and your funny comment on the winter post made me laugh. 🙂
I think you had some fantastic song choices, too. I like Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac and NIN. Did you know Paul is on the latest Pirates movie? He should be in more character roles. I saw it yesterday with my two grandsons. 🙂
