20 Questions

I came across a post from my friend Sandra a couple days ago, and thought I’d play along. I always enjoy these questionnaires, and this one is no different.  If you’re interested in a little fun, have at it yourself.

So here we go:

Do you have a nickname?

I do, a couple actually, depending on who you ask.  None are really that terrific, but nicknames nonetheless.  T, Tone-Loc, and Sweet T are the most common.

Do you drink coffee?

Absolutely!  Doesn’t everybody?!?

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia.  It’s fantastic!

Describe a happy childhood memory.

I have several, and most involve traveling, concerts, or grandparents.  Camping, fishing, beaches.

But, the one I remember the most was the Summer of ’83.  I was about 14, and was spending the Summer in Charleston, South Carolina, with my dad and step-mom, as was the case since I was 7.  My dad was in sales, and as such had the flexibility to be able to take a month or so off.  We took a trip, starting from Charleston and ending in Pensacola, Florida.  Not straight there, mind you, but via the coastline, through Georgia to Miami, across Alligator Alley, North to Big Bend State Park, then on to Pensacola. This included nearly every island, beach, village, and port along the way.

It was fantastic, and is the true beginning of my wanderlust and love of road trips.

What’s your favorite meal?

Not really sure, but I know it’d be something Italian.

Name something you cannot live without.

I’m assuming this is meant to be inanimate, or a thing rather than a human.  So, I couldn’t live without my camera.  That’d be torturous.

What color pants are you wearing?

Not wearing pants.  It’s pretty warm.  I’m wearing shorts.  And they’re gray.

Did you get good grades in school?

Yeah, not bad.  I wasn’t a MENSA member or anything, but A’s and B’s throughout.  My grades improved in college, especially once I had to starting paying my own way.

Any phobias?

Not really.  But, I’m not a big fan of being right out on a ledge, then looking UP.  I know, it’s kinda the reverse of the norm, but looking up and losing sight of my footing and position in space is vertigo inducing.  Oddly, it doesn’t occur all the time though.  I’m in the mountains all the time, I used to rock climb fairly regularly, I’ve even bungee jumped.  Didn’t really bother me.  But once I’m at the top and standing on the edge, looking up makes my head swim.

Are you named after anyone?

I am, actually.  My dad was in the Navy during Vietnam, 1966-1968.  He was stationed on what was called a PBR, Patrol Boat, River.  It was a very dangerous job, patrolling the rivers and searching suspect boats for weapons and enemy fighters, and through dense jungle as a sitting duck.  And one that cost several lives among his shipmates during his tour of duty.  I was named after one of those sailors.

Last time you cried and why?

I’m too damn empathetic for my own good, so I tear up if I hit a bird with my car, if I see a person on the streets and hungry, if I see a story about an abused or sick child, or an abused or sick animal. But a real cry, a break-down, really at it cry?  It’s been a while.

The last time I recall was back in July of 2015, after finding out a friends’ son had passed after a 3 year battle with Leukemia.  He was only 13.  It was devastating to hear, and it hit me like a load of bricks.  Cried like a baby that day, at the visitation, and the funeral.  Still hard to think about to this day without the tears starting.

What color crayon would you be?

Like my friend Dee answered, something sea-ish.  A blue or green, maybe a mix of both.

What do you hear right now?

My kids laughing, while watching something ridiculous on YouTube, I’m sure.

What’s the last movie you watched?

Sandra, it’s funny you answered Rogue One, because that’s my answer too.  One of the boys wanted to watch it last night, and I liked it better the second time around than I did after seeing it in the theatre.  It’s pretty great, and the ending is pretty bad-assed!

Do you believe in reincarnation?

Like Dee, again, I’m not sure what exactly it is I believe.  I question everything spiritually, at one time or another, but I do believe in an AFTER-life, of some sort.

What do you think is your best physical feature?

My chest and shoulders.  My wife would say my backside, but I’m not sure what women get out of man’s ass.  She seems to like it though.  Go figure.

What is your favorite curse word?

Well, I apologize for plagiarizing another answer, this time from Sandra, again, but it has to be fuck.  It’s just so versatile, situationally perfect in a variety of contexts, and is sufficiently succinct and equally effective.

Have you ever skinny-dipped before?

Do you talk to yourself?

Of course.  But, not usually out loud.

Do you have a favorite tv show?

Not really.  I’m not a huge TV guy.  There are a few that we catch fairly regularly though.  We like Antiques Roadshow, Austin City Limits, Destination Unknown, Ghost Adventures, and….I’m almost embarrassed to mention this…Finding Bigfoot.

Dont judge me.  😃

  2. Finding Bigfoot… haha… that’s funny. 🙂 And don’t feel bad taking the “fuck” answer. In my opinion, that should be everyone’s answer… 🙂

  3. Feeling Squatchy? I love your answers! I’m a bit of a weeper too. But at the strangest times and then some times when I ‘should’ cry I’m as dry as a desert. Weird.
