This week’s One Word Photo Challenge from Tourmalinenow is for the topic:

PELICAN

Here’s my take on it:

My songs of the day are:

“Bird In A Cage” by Old 97’s

“Fly Little Bird” by Paul Weller

“Strange Bird” by Jimmy Buffett

“Bird Of Prey” by The Doors

“Rare Bird” by Glen Hansard

“Early Bird” by Mark Knopfler

“Rock And Bird” by Cowboy Junkies

“Great Speckled Bird” by Lucinda Williams

  1. I LOVE PELICANS. I refer to them as tanks of the sky. Six of them flew over my office building yesterday and I am pretty sure now everyone in the office knows my feelings about them based on my reaction to seeing them (we only get to see them here on their migrations north).

  2. My favorite (goofy) bird-related song… Birdhouse in Your Soul (They Might Be Giants)

  3. I can’t recall if I’ve ever seen a pelican in person! Yet that seems impossible. Great shots – they are cool birds!

  4. A couple years ago that huge Polar Vortex forced some Eastern Brown pelicans into our retention ponds. They were huge!
