Perusing through my Reader the other morning, and came across this fun little prompt, posted by my buddy Sandra, called This Or That.   Basically, you’re given 2 options, and you pick one, to answer a question.  I enjoy these sorts of prompts, as they introduce peeps to each other on a more intimate, and funny, level.  Also, I’m always happy to direct people to Sandra’s site, because…you know…she’s awesome.  Oh, and while I’m at it, go check out her Redbubble page too…and buy copious amounts of stuff!  Like now!

Being that Sandra doesn’t ever follow the rules, she didn’t necessarily invite me to do so.  But I’m gonna do this in spite of being left off the guest list, just because I’ve always liked crashing a party.

Anyway, here is the list of A or B questions, which were provided to Sandra by T:

Dog or Cat?

Well, we have both, but I’m definitely a dog person.  I wish cats would stay as kittens forever.  I’d like them a lot more that way.

Netflix or YouTube?

Netflix, though I’m forced to watch a bunch of ridiculous YouTube videos every day,  thanks to my boys.

Phone Call or Text?

Text…and it’s not even close.

Toast or Eggs?

Eggs.  Though I do prefer toast to biscuits or muffins.  A little butter, a little blackberry jam, and just a light toasting?  Pretty dang good, and creates that perfect salty/sweet thang when paired with a fried egg or three and a few slices of bacon.  Good morning, indeed.

Cardio or Weights?

Both, actually.  Cycling and hiking for cardio, gym for weights.  I also swim and kayak a lot which works both categories.

Facebook or Twitter?

Neither.  WP is the extent of my “social media”.

Ice Cream Cone or Snow Cone?

I like both, but given the option, I’m picking ice cream every time.

Mobile Games or Console Games?

Neither.   Haven’t played video games more than a handful of times since I was in my teens.  Though, I do play Solitaire on the loo  sometimes.  Does that count?

While walking: Music or Podcasts?

Music….and it’s not even close.

iOS or Android?

I use an iPhone.

Cake or Pie?

Yes, please!

Swimming or Sunbathing?

Swimming.  Or surfing.  Or kite boarding.  Can’t sit still long enough to sunbath.

Big Party or Small Gathering?

I can function just fine at either, but I’d prefer a small gathering….or to be at a big party with my friends in tow.

New Clothes or New Phone?

Neither.  I couldn’t care less about being a sharp dressed man, and generally prefer a tee and shorts and no shoes.  And, I generally get my wife’s old phone when she upgrades.

Rich Friend or Loyal Friend?

Loyal friend, no doubt.

Football or Basketball?

I love both, and played organized football as a youngster.  I should preface this answer by saying that it is college football and basketball that I’m a fan of, and we have season football tix annually to my alma mater’s games.  As separate sports though, I grew up in a basketball-crazy family and region with two of the most historically successful programs in the country within 90 miles of each other, so college b-ball is in my blood, and my favorite.

Nice Car or Nice Home Interior?

Home interior.  Nice cars are great, but the payments suck ass.  Home is my nest, and I treat it as such.  A car is just a tool to get from A to B.

What’s worse: Laundry or Dishes?

Both are relentless, in our house of 5, at least.  Hate both.  With a passion.  You can throw vacuuming, sweeping, and dusting on the hate-it list as well.  But, what are ya’ gonna do.  There’s not a maid walking in any time soon.  So, tag…we’re it.

Jogging or Hiking?

Hiking.  I can’t think of many things I’d rather do less than go jogging just for the sake of jogging.

Sneakers or sandals?

I’d prefer barefoot, but given the choices, I’d take sandals.  I live in my Keen’s all summer.  They’re perfect for getting wet when wading in swift water and getting in and out of slippery riversides.

Glasses or Contacts?

I wish I didn’t have to use either.  I’ve worn glasses since I was about 10 though, so that’s my lot In life.

Hamburger or Taco?

Hmmm.  I like both.  Can I just flip a coin?

Couch or Recliner?

Well, we don’t, nor will we ever, have a recliner, so I guess couch it is.

Online Shopping or Shopping in a Store?

On-line shopping is a fantastic development.  I despise shopping in general, other than junking and rummaging, and being able to do so from my home in whatever I am, or am not, wearing?  Perfect.  And I don’t have to “people” that way, which makes it even better!

Receive: Email or Letter?

I don’t care either way.  I’m terrible about checking e-mails though, so of the two, you’re more likely to get a response from me if you send a letter.

Passenger or Driver?

I prefer to drive, be it in a car…or otherwise.

Tablet or Computer?

Tablet.  Or laptop.  We don’t even own a desktop anymore.

Most important in a partner: Intelligent or Funny?

I got lucky, and found one who’s both.  But, in my opinion, funny is MUCH more important.

Car or Truck?

Truck.  My truck is vital to my existence.  Though I don’t commute in it every day, it is absolutely necessary to the farm…and is still my favorite vehicle.

Blue or Red?

Red!

Money or Free Time?

Free time!  Money is highly overrated.  It’s necessary, to a degree, of course, but if you don’t have the time to enjoy it, what’s the point?

Amusement Park or Day at the Beach?

I love amusement parks, and roller coasters feed my adrenaline addiction.  But, I’d take the beach any day!

At a movie: Candy or Popcorn?

At a movie is the only time I ever eat popcorn.

Pen or Pencil?

Pen!

Toilet paper: Over or Under?

Over, though I don’t freak if it’s under.  That’s the kinda shit in life that simply isn’t worth worrying about.

Cups in the cupboard: Right Side Up or Up Side Down?

I put mine away upside down.  Habit, I guess.

Pancake or Waffle?

Waffle.  Pancakes are just too much dough

Coke or Pepsi?

Neither.  I don’t really drink pop.  And when I do, it’s a Dr. Pepper or Cheerwine.

Coffee Cup or Thermos?

I have a terrific to-go mug, but I prefer the weight and feel of a ceramic coffee mug.

Blinds or Curtain?

I’m not a fan of blinds.  Curtains it is.

Train or Plane?

Anything but planes.  I hate flying anymore.  Not from fear, but because of the shitty way you’re treated as a passenger.  Delayed or cancelled flights, missed connections, lost luggage, rude as fuck employees, sitting on a tarmac for an hour, having to sprint from one side of a terminal to the other for connecting flights, etc, etc, etc.  I used to love flying.  Now, it just sucks.

Phone or Tablet?

I use both, but primarily my phone.

Iced Coffee or Hot Coffee?

Coffee served any way besides black, strong, and hot is just an insult to coffee.

Meat or Vegetables?

Yes, please.

International Vacation or a New TV?

Really?!?  Vacation!  Would anyone really pick a tv?

Save or Spend?

We are savers.  I’d rather retire early than have a bunch of meaningless shit.  With the exception of the meaningless shit we find at flea markets/127 Yard Sale/Peddlers Malls/antique malls.  It’s all meaningless, but the boys will have lots of good stuff to sell off when we’re gone.

Honesty or Other’s Feelings?

Honesty.  If it hurts feelings, well, that sucks.  However, there aren’t versions of the truth.  Now, I generally don’t give my honest answer unless specifically asked, “What do you think?”  I’m a polite person with good manners and some level of decorum, but, don’t ask the question if there’s a chance you won’t like the answer.

Coffee or Tea?

I like both, but coffee is a necessity.

TV or Book?

I don’t have much time for either, but I’d pick a book.

Ocean or Mountains?

I adore the mountains, and have spent copious amounts of time in them hiking, camping, rock climbing, and kayaking.  But I can’t live without the ocean.  Give me saltwater or give me death.

Horror Movie or Comedy Movie?

Comedy.  I find horror movies to be a waste of 2 hours.  And most are so cheesily awful that they’re nearly comical anyway, especially the over-the-top gore-fests.  To each their own though.

City or Countryside?

I love both, and have spent time in both.  I grew up in a city, inner city, and love visiting cities.  Lived in large cities most of my young adulthood too.  The bigger and more electric, and eclectic,  the better.  But, after living on our farm for 18 years now, I have zero desire to, nor will I ever again, live in a city.  But I’ll always love visiting cities.

Mac or PC?

Neither.  No more desktops.  Laptops and iPads are our go-to’s nowadays.

Card Game or Board Game?

I like both.  Board games are more fun though.

Camping or Binge Watching Shows at Home?

Camping….and it’s not even close.

Working Alone or Working in a Team?

I can be a great teammate when necessary.  But, I prefer to go it alone.  In most things in life.

Dine In or Delivery?

We live in a place that gets no delivery…not even a pizza.  We cook nearly every night.

Sweater or Hoodie?

Hoodie!

Motorcycle or Bicycle?

I’ve never had a great desire to own a motorcycle.  I’ve driven them.  I’ve ridden on them.  Have plenty of friends who’ve had, or still have, one.  They’re fun.  But, in my line of work, I’ve seen firsthand what’s possible from riding them.  Some of my patients suffered excruciating injuries, even paralysis, from they’re motorcycles….and most instances were through no fault of their own.  I’lI take my mountain bike.  Trail riding is fantastic, great exercise, and a great source of my precious adrenaline fix.

Book or eBook?

I prefer an actual book.

When sleeping: Fan or No Fan?

Definitely with a fan.  White noise, air circulation, cool breeze.   What’s not to like?

TV Shows or Movies?

I like both, but am not avid about either.

Alrighty then.  That was a long trip for a short story, but that’s my version.  Y’all feel free to check out Sandra’s site for details if ya’ want to play along.  Oh, and don’t forget to buy something from her Redbubble page.  She’s got terrific stuff over there, and I’m certain she’d appreciate the business.

I think I might be offended at that coffee comment. 😛 I would never insult coffee! But I do drink it hot or iced and with and without other stuff added to it. So there. 😀

Have fun driving. With the fan on. 😀

  12. Hehehe nice one. Long list. Flying over here is less stressful. For internal flights just have to be at airport 1.5 hours before and off you go. No fuss to go through security or tickets. Terminals are not that far to walk well unless you go budget then it’s a fair way to walk. They’ve just built us a new terminal that’s like too big.

    • Good for y’all. Flying here sucks ass.

      • I feel sorry for you all. It sucks having the extra stress . I remembered we bought tickets months beforehand and had to fly to NY for part of the trip and when we got to the LAX and checked in there were no seats allocated on our boarding passes. I was like what? They must have over sold their seats . In the end it was like 5 minutes before the plane left that we got to board.
It has never happened to us before Didn’t know airlines over there worked that way.
        That was in 2010.

      • It’s just gotten worse. You’re a captive audience. They can do whatever the fuck they want. And it sucks. I’d rather drive.
