Time for this week’s Share Your World from Cee’s Photography.

Here are Cee’s questions for the week:

Tell us about your first bicycle or car?

My first “real” bike was a Schwinn Stingray Fastback with a banana seat:

I remember my grandpa riding it into the family room during Christmas present time.  I thought it was the coolest looking thing!  Reminded me of a chopper.  I felt like Peter Fonda in Easy Rider.

My first “serious” bike, bought with my own money, was a Peugeot 12-Speed Road Bike:

I adored this bike!  It was my baby!  After 15 years of use, I sold it to buy a kayak.  But it’s ok.  I don’t regret it….most days.

My first car cost less than that Peugeot bike.  It was a 1972 VW Beetle:

That’s not a pic of my actual car, unfortunately.  Mine wasn’t in this good of shape.  Mine had no heat, no defrost, no air, plenty of rust, you could see a bit of roadway through the passenger side floorboard, and black vinyl seats that would singe the skin off of unsuspecting shorts-laden thighs during the summer months.  But it was mine.

What fictional world or place would you like to visit?

The Star Wars Galaxy!  I’d love to be Han Solo, flittering from planet to planet, great adventure, a little danger, and always coming out smelling like a rose.  Minus that whole being killed by his son thing, of course.

If you could have someone follow you around all the time, like a personal assistant, what would you have them do?

Nothing!  I’d hate having someone following me around anywhere.  Now, if someone wants to come to my place and clean it from top to bottom, once a week, while I’m not there?  I’ll take that any day!

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Well, just….life….I suppose.  I never want to let time pass me by while worrying about the future.  I’m happy, in a good place, still-young kids, the sun has been shining…relentlessly.  But it’s good.  On the week of Independence Day, I’m grateful to live where I do, and to be free to raise my family and exist in the manner we’ve chosen.   Even with, and in spite of, the current state of affairs.  This week, I appreciated appreciating living.

My songs of the day are:

“As Long As You Follow” by Fleetwood Mac

“Daisies Of The Galaxy” by Eels

“Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow” by Funkadelic

“Drive My Car” by The Beatles

“I Will Follow” by U2

“Another Galaxy” by Paul Simon

“Rockin’ In The Free World” by Neil Young

“Biking” by Frank Ocean

  2. My first car was a 1970 bug, it did have a heater that would burn your ankles, but no a/c, standard, and would burn through oil like no ones business.
Hey, did your family like the Han Solo movie?

  3. lol I’m also a huge fan of two wheels of freedom but much preferred Jane Fonda in “The Girl and a Bike” … should have been called a girl and The bike!
Also a huge Star Wars fan, but you have three sons so be careful what you wish 😉
