Time for this week’s Share Your World from Sparks From A Combustible Mind.

Here are her questions for the week:

Name something you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark forest or in an abandoned building.

In a forest?  A low-hanging branch or a briar patch.  In an abandoned building?  A rotted patch of floor or a rabid raccoon.

Share the creepiest thing that’s ever happened while you were alone.

Awakened out of a deep sleep, 2:00 or 3:00 a.m., by…..someone….saying my name, in a slow whisper, ala “Rosebud….”, in Citizen Kane.  Out of habit, I raised up and asked my wife, “What?”.  Thing is, she wasn’t there, was out of town.  Just one on a long list of stuff that’s happened in this house.  It’s old.  Has a history.  And, we believe, is haunted.

What would you like your last words to be?

”Damn, that was fun!”

Do you believe in any ‘mythical’ monsters like chupacabras or shadow people?

I want to, yes.  So, until proven otherwise, unequivocally, I will believe in all of them.

How long do you think you would last in a horror movie?

The entire time.  I could disappear in plain sight, and be gone in the shadows.  Horror movies are always uber predictable.  Use a wee bit of common sense and some stealthiness and I think you’d be good.

Are you afraid of or find clowns creepy?

Oh, they’re creepy.  It’s empirical.  But not as creepy as dolls.  They’re evil.

In the zombie apocalypse, what would be your weapon of choice?

12-gauge shotgun, 3 shell pump action.  Good in close quarters and easy to reload.

Have you ever had your tarot cards read?

Yes.

Anyone know the reason behind putting candles in jack-o-lanterns?

Nope.  I would assume it helped guide spirits or something, but that’s purely a guess.

Do you think putting special emphasis on certain holidays – like Halloween is ‘spooky’ for example — is a good idea or just more mindless entertainment for the masses?

I think Halloween is definitely just for entertainment at this point, and the spooky factor is a huge part of what’s entertaining about it.  I see nothing wrong with it.  If one wants to get they’re celebration on, I say go for it.

Share a positive thought or message or something that’s inspired you this week.

Watching our archery coach manage a fresh crop of new, and still very immature, 6th graders who’ve joined the team.  It’s like herding cats, and his whistle is getting a workout.  I just observe, and it makes me lose my mind.  Not sure how he does it, but somehow he makes it work.  If one can cope with that situation, it makes me feel as though I can do anything.

My songs of the day are:

”We Share The Same Sun” by Stereophonics

“Lion’s Share” by Son Lux

”To Share Our Love” by The Moody Blues

”The Sharing Song” by Jack Johnson

”Share Your Love With Me” by Aretha Franklin

”I Won’t Share You” by The Smiths

”Share What You’ve Got, Keep What You Need” by Robert Cray

“Share With Me The Sun” by Portugal. The Man

  2. Dolls are creepy, yes. Maybe that’s why my sisters used to hang them from their bedposts. Even as a toddler I thought that was weird : )

  3. What a fun post! One time my mom brought home some dolls that had these beautiful homemade crocheted dresses and placed them all in a row on my dresser. When my brother came into my room, he freaked out, and yelled at me, ” That’s creepy!” Anyway, tarot was an interesting experience for me.

  7. FABULOUS songs!! And now I have a new addition to my list of things that I find uber creepy….it consists, thus far, of monkeys, clowns and now dolls. Those things were EERIE! I could see their heads spinnin’ round and some maniacally evil voice saying “I’ve come to drag you down to Hellll….. mwahahahahha” Brrrr. Dolls. Ew. Okay. Thanks so much for participating and make SYW that much more fun because you always have unique and interesting thoughts! 😀

  9. That was a very unsettling experience to be awakened by a creepy voice. Are any of these dolls suspects?
