Time for this week’s Share Your World from Sparks From A Combustible Mind.

Here are her questions for the week:

What’s the most ironic thing you’ve ever witnessed?

That my wife, god love her, who really had no interest in having in children…at all…ended up having 3.

She’s a fantastic mom, and loves them more than life.  But, believe me, when the shit hits the fan around here, I get reminded that this was my brilliant idea.  😏

Let’s talk turkey.  Pro or con?   If pro, which part do you enjoy most?  Is it for Thanksgiving (American Style any way) only?

I’m neutral on turkey.  The only day of the year I eat turkey is Thanksgiving.  Well, an occasional club sandwich being the exception, I suppose.  Can’t say I’m a huge fan, no.

If you’d like, share one thing you wish you’d said to someone else, but now you’ll never have the chance.

It’s more of a question that I’d like to have the chance to ask, as opposed to a statement.  Actually, it’s several questions.  Why?  What could I have done to help?  Why didn’t we talk about this?  How could I have helped prevent this?  Why didn’t I see that it was that bad?

What odd smell do you really enjoy?

It’s not a particularly pleasant smell, unless in the context of being at the coast or in lowlands/wetlands.  It’s the smell of low tide.  It’s sorta sulphury, sorta dank, sorta pungent.  But, it’s part of coastal existence, and I love it.

Thankful November….share a story or time when someone did something really great for you.  Alternatively,  share your gratitude moments during this past week.

My oldest and I were in a Subway to grab a quick dinner a few weeks ago.  It was one of those I’m exhausted/running behind/having to get to practice kind of days.  All parents, past or present, know what I’m talking about.  Anyway, we were waiting in line, and my son struck up a brief conversation with the guy in ahead of us.  They small-talked for a minute, but I thought nothing of it.  Once the two us made it to the cashier, she informed us that the guy had paid for our meals.  We were both surprised, and tried to thank him in the parking lot, but he was gone.  Great, great thing for my son to have witnessed.  And even better, it gave us the urge to pay it forward, which we did a few days later.  At my son’s request.  I thought the whole thing was very cool.

My songs of the day are:

”I Smell A Rat” by Patty Griffin

”Cold Turkey” by John Lennon

”The Hand Of Kindness” by Richard Thompson

”That’s What I Say, It’s Not What I Mean” by Feist

“Ironic” by Alanis Morissette

“Put Your Big Toe In The Milk Of Human Kindness” by Elvis Costello

”Jive Turkey” by The Ohio Players

”Smell The Roses” by Roger Waters

  4. I REALLY look forward to your song picks each week…so very appropriate. I’m sorry about the “Wish I’d said question”…sounds like you lost someone to suicide. I hope you know that if you ever listened to that person at all, you did something huge. Because the biggest thing about depression and suicide? Is that one feels nobody is listening at all, so what’s the point. Wow. (and yeah, I presumed a lot in that). Thanks so much for Sharing Your World. Your family is beautiful, and you get the brownie point for being the only person who could actually come up with a personal ironic situation! Heh. Thanks! 🙂

  10. Turkey is a favorite of mine and the family. Going to host my first thanksgiving and attempt a turkey on the smoker this year. As far as smell, I love the smell of freshly washed pillows in bleach lol
