I know, I know.  I haven’t done one of these in a long time.  Went “award-free” some time ago.  But, this one comes from a new blogger to my list, Sadje At Keep It Alive, so, I’ll play nice in the sandbox, and take part.  If you aren’t familiar with her site. You should check it out.  Fun and funny, it’s worth a follow.

Anyway, here are the particulars:

The Rules:

1.Thank the blogger/s who nominated you.

2.Use the “Sunshine Blogger Award” logo on your post and list the rules.

3.Answer the 11 questions the selector asks of you.

4.Nominate 11 bloggers you want to give the award to.

Ask the bloggers 11 questions of your own.

And, here’s the badge:

Now, here are her questions:

What made you start blogging?

I started doing this as a journal of sorts.  I was working through some stuff, with my dad, and it helped me to write about it.  Once I felt better about those issues (not really resolved, but accepted), I started conversing about random stuff, and music, and then photos.  I’ve now become nearly exclusively a photo poster, but I still try to do so with a sense of humor and fun.  And I’ll still take part in the occasional 20-Questions or award prompts.  Whether any of it is entertaining is debatable, but I enjoy it.

Do your friends and family support you in this?

The only person who knows I do this, and is close to me in my “real life”, is my wife.  Yes, she’s supportive, and is happy that I thrust my photo hobby upon you unsuspecting peeps.  Gives her a break from it, and I think she likes that somebody else besides her appreciates what I do.

Which is your favorite time of the day?

I’m a night owl, so my favorite time has always been between midnight and 4:00am.  As I’ve gotten older though, I’ve truly learned to appreciate early mornings.  In both cases, it’s primarily due to solitude and peacefulness…..and not having people to deal with.

What would be your dream vacation?

Man, this is tough.  I’ve been lots of places…but still have a lot of places I’d like to see.  I love everything about every trip I’ve ever been on, from packing and planning to exploring and immersing.  I just can’t pick one.

However, I will say I can’t wait to go back to Italy, but this time, with our boys in tow.  Seeing that journey through their eyes will be fantastic.

What genre of movies you like best?

Comedies.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

I’m kind but can be a hard ass.  I’m compassionate but blunt.  I’ll give you the shirt off my back but don’t try to take advantage of me.  I trust but do not easily give it back if broken.  I’m a pacifist but not afraid to rumble.  I’m fun but have a temper.  I’m adventurous but have put myself in unsafe situations.  When I love, I’m all in, but have had that taken for granted.  I’m physically strong but babies/puppies/kittens turn me to mush.  Just for starters.

Are you an emotional person?

That depends.  I’ve always had a soft heart, even when I was young, wild, and trouble seemingly found me.  It’s led me to be taken advantage of a time or two, yes.  But I can’t stand to see someone in need not be helped, and I feel that empathy to my core….until you piss me off.  Then, you’re not likely to get the time of day from me, at least for a while.

Now, when it comes to my wife and kids?  Yep.  I sure am.  I never knew what real love was until I met her, and had them.  After they came, I’d turn to mush at the drop of a hat.

What motivates you in life and writing?

Not a writer, so I’m really never motivated to do that.  My schtick here in WP land is my photos.  To get motivated to do that?  Pick up my camera and start snapping….whatever.  Inspiration comes based on what I happen to see on a given day, or what photo prompts I have in mind.

What sort of friend are you to your pals?

You’d have to ask them.  I will say that I’m loyal to a fault, my door is ALWAYS open to them, and my boys refer to my 3 best friends as “Uncles”.  We’re pretty close, and have been since college….30 years ago.  I’d hope they’d say I’m a great friend.

Have you written poetry as well?

Never by choice.

Being happy or peaceful, what is more important to you?

Happy.  If I’m happy, I’m at peace….even if the shit is hitting the fan.

Now, I’m supposed to nominate people.  I won’t be doing that.  I have one in mind, but she’d likely throat punch me if I did.  Instead, I’ll stick to my M.O. and say anyone who wants to play along is welcome to do so.  Thanks again to my new friend, Sadje, for thinking of me for this one.  😊😊

  2. I don’t know what age your boys are but Italy is a terrific place to travel with kids. We did it twice when our kids were 8 and 10 and again at 10 and 12. Great memories of those trips. so go for that if you possibly can.

      • Think I have one in mind. It’s a quote most often attributed to Mother Teresa but I’ve read that it was penned by someone else. Anyway, it’s kind of my viewpoint on life in general:

        “People are often unreasonable, irrational and self-centered;
        Forgive them anyway.
        If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
        Be kind anyway.
        If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies;
        Succeed anyway.
        If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you;
        Be honest and sincere anyway.
        What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight;
        Create anyway.
        If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous;
        Be happy anyway.
        The good you do today, will often be forgotten;
        Do good anyway.
        Give the best you have, and it may never be enough;
        Give your best anyway.
        In the final analysis, it is between you and God;
        It was never between you and them anyway.”

  11. (The quote about “do good anyway” is one of my favorite quotes, too. I just posted it on my FB wall, in fact. 🙂 The author is Kent M. Keith.)
