Time for this week’s Share Your World from Sparks From A Combustible Mind.

Here are her questions for the week:

Why do we seem to respect the dead more than the living?

Guilt?  Overly grandiose and selective memories of who the dead person truly was?  Just plain miss them?  And, living persons are generally assholish, earning little or no respect.

Why is beauty associated with morality?  Or not?   (a few weeks back I asked a similar question, but the key word was MORTALITY, not MORALITY).

I have no idea.  I’ve been witness to several people’s mortality through my work and/or family members, and it generally isn’t beautiful at all.

Have gadgets and apps taken away emotions?

I think they’ve taken away a lot of things, and brought about some negative things.  Emotions, TMI situations, social interaction, conversation, addiction.  Technology has given us some great stuff…but it can also be mind-numbingly idiotic as well.

Is there a perfect life?  What’s your version of a perfect life if you care to share?

I don’t know if there’s one perfect life, period.  It’s unique to each person, I’d think.  As far as me, I love my life, though it’s far from perfect.  But, we’re happy, trials and tribulations be damned.

If you’d like, please share something uplifting or for which you are grateful.

My songs of the day are:

”Nothing Is Perfect” by Neil Young

“Your Mind Is On Vacation” by Buddy Guy

”Mixed Émotions” by Atlanta Rhythm Section

”Respect” by Aretha Franklin

”Perfect Fit” by Van Morrison

”We Used To Vacation” by Cold War Kids

”Real Emotions” by Los Lonely Boys

”Respect Yourself” by B.B. King

  2. I had a discussion on shyness and technology this week with the students I’m teaching for the summer. About how the electronical revolution has taken away our communication and social skills causing us to be more shy and less able I communicate. I think that’s part of it, not so much taking away our emotions but possibly our ability to share or express them freely in regular day to day social interactions

  3. I liked your way of handling the questions about morality!

  4. Thanks for a great Share Your World! Your songs are uniquely appropriate to the challenge too. I think you have a danged near perfect life, you have the one thing that makes that possible – contentment. That’s rare.

  6. I’m not sure about “perfect life” but I enjoy perfect moments. When I have a perfect moment (listening to the waves on the shore, sinking into a hot bath, standing up without anything hurting!) I always think “that was good…I’m gonna have another one”
So I’m grateful for those perfect moments that sometimes lead to perfect days.

Thanks for another perfect post! Rae xx
