Time for this week’s Share Your World from Sparks From A Combustible Mind.

Here are her questions for the week:

“Okay then.   Now fair WARNING.   This week’s Share Your World is rather grim.  More hatred and divisiveness in America, resulting in a lot of innocent people dying at the hands of unbalanced men.   With guns.    So if you’d rather not participate this week, no worries.   Next week should see a return to a more upbeat theme.   All the questions this week are philosophical in nature.”

Does life have a reason (meaning)?

I have no idea.  Sometimes, it sure feels pointless.  Other times, it feels like we’re being taught…something.  Others, it feels like we’re here to serve others.  Anyone who knows the answer to why we’re here, please, let me know.

Will the world come to an end by human hands (man’s actions)?

I doubt it.  Our existence as we know it, or even at all?  Humans coming to an end at the earth’s hands?  That seems possible.

Will stricter laws make a better world?  Would less strict law make it better?

Well, humans coexisting without some sort of rules would be chaos.  I’m not saying we need to be monitored 24/7, but we sure as hell can’t be trusted to do the right thing as a species.  Common sense laws and rules are absolutely necessary.  More strict, less strict?  Guess that depends on whom one asks.  I’ve always thought the more you tell someone not to do something, the more likely they are to want to do it.  Just sayin’.

If death is inevitable, why bother doing anything?

Hahaha!  Because!  We’d die of boredom even sooner!  Besides, doing stuff is fun.  And, while we all know death is inevitable, the will to live supersedes that grim fact, at least in our minds.

Are thoughts and prayers useful or a sop for people who wish to pay respect but interact through a virtual venue?   Yea or nay – please explain your viewpoint (without rancor) if you would.

I suppose that getting kind words from others in response to a tragedy or loss is comforting, even though they don’t solve or cure anything.  But, what else can one offer in a dire situation, one that we have no power to control?  Coming from the wrong person though, the thoughts-and -prayers thing comes off as shallow, insincere, and hollow.

My songs of the day are:

”Only Human” by Jason Mraz

“Who Wants To Live Forever” by Queen

”Save A Prayer” by Duran Duran

“In My Life” by The Beatles

”Human” by Imelda May

”Wake Up And Live” by Bob Marley

”I Say A Little Prayer” by Dionne Warwick

”You Are The Sunshine Of My Life” by Stevie Wonder
